Process

The website projects I work on fall into two distinct categories. We’ll start by deciding which one’s right for you.

Custom websites

Plan

This stage is the foundation for your project quote. We’ll talk about your website goals, existing brand and content, competitors, and more.

Test

A live, password-protected “first draft” lets you fully interact with your website. With the site in front of you, it’s easy to see what works and what doesn’t.

Revise

We’ll go over the design until you’re completely satisfied. I’ll also make sure your site is accessible and functional for all users, browsers, and devices.

Train

Regardless of your technical ability, I’ll teach you how to edit your content, ensuring that you’re comfortable and in control of your own website.

Host

We’ll find the perfect hosting and domain providers for your needs, whether you’re starting from scratch or transferring from an existing account.

Launch

I’ll flip the switch and your new site will go live. Though issues are unusual, I’ll be available to deal with any that arise.

Optional add-ons

Integrate

I can help you with additional services you need, including email newsletters, online payments, multiple email addresses, and visitor statistics.

Update

If you’d rather not update your content and/or website software, or you occasionally need a hand with complicated changes, I can take care of it.

Renew

If a major update or a long time away from your content management system has you struggling, I’m happy to help you get back on track.

Upgrade

Technology is constantly changing and the needs of your business can too. In a few years, you might want an upgrade or two, and I’ll be here.

The cost of a custom website will vary based on the functionality you require, but to give you an idea, the websites I make generally fall within the range of $5000–$12,000. Simple websites with a bio and contact info fall on the lower end of this scale, and complex sites with multiple layouts, ecommerce, membership areas, or lots of stakeholders are on the higher end.

Although I’d love to work with you from the first pencil sketches right up to launch day, I know that’s not always possible. I’m equally happy to work with a fellow designer or developer on one or more stages of your project.

Website setup

If you just want to add your logo to an existing design, you’re willing to spend some time modifying the site yourself, and/or you’re under a time crunch, I can:

Starting at $500, this does not include any custom design or development work.
